Built into the heart of this lighting controller is the Z~Series Smart Energy technology, one of the features built into Z~Series to help you save money. This lamp controller records and reports wattage energy usage in real time. It also stores and records kWh energy usage over a period of time. This data is reported back to Z~Series controllers, such as the Z~Series Home Control Servers, allowing you to find out which lights are using too much electricity and automatically, or remotely, turn them off when not in use.
Dimming
While similar to the Z~Series appliance module in it's look and feel, the lamp controller provides one additional feature: it's dimmable. From the lamp module, a compatible remote control, automation schedule, or server you'll be able to brighten and dim any compatible lighting between 10% and 100%.
Which lighting works? We haven't had the chance to test every light bulb on the market (yet) but can confirm that the dimming feature works with Philips' range of EcoClassic energy saver bulbs. We have also been told that they work with halogen light bulbs and Philips' dimmable CFLs, however, we haven't tested this ourselves yet. As we test more bulbs we'll compile a complete list.

We've found the best use for the Z~Series lamp controller in our homes, particularly in our home theatre and bed rooms.
Sitting along side our home theatre systems we make use of the lamp controller to set the perfect scene: with the press of a single button all the lights turn off bar one, which dims to be the perfect backlight.
For some of us, the Z~Series lamp controller has become part of the perfect morning routine as a bedside lamp turns on with our alarm, and slowly brightens for a pleasant wake-up.
