What was A10?
Invented in the United States before being produced in Europe, A10 was an advanced home automation standard based upon X10 home automation. In late 2009, A10's manufacturers, EATON Electronics, discontinued the system. It's not all bad news for DIY home automation enthusiasts however:
A10 is 100% compatible with SmartHome.com.au's X10 and X10Pro solutions.
X10 vs A10 vs X10Pro
If A10, X10, and X10Pro speak the same language and are compatible, then what's the difference? Is one more advanced than the other?

If you're unsure of any of the technologies mentioned, here's a brief run down (you can follow the links for more information):
- X10 is the basis for the majority of DIY home automation technologies. Those which aren't directly related to it copy its principles.
- X10Pro is a professional grade of X10, released in late 2009. It is 100% compatible with X10, and the discontinued A10 / Xanura platform.
How does A10 work?
Unlike the predominantly plug-and-play nature of X10, A10 uses wired-in modules as the basis for it's home automation solution.

These A10 home automation filters allow you to filter out noise and interference from the power line without damanging the A10 signal. For those with an X10 system, these are also X10 compatible.
