Use your iPhone as a remote control for your home
Apple's iPhone is undoubtedly one of the most powerful mobile phones, with the iPod Touch the iPod de jour. Both owe those facts to their fantastic capabilities. SmartHome.com.au is taking full advantage of those capabilities, applying them to bring out the best in your home.
Using SmartHome.com.au's iPhone home automation kits you're now able to create what we fondly dub an iHome where everything electric, from your lights to your electric blanket, can be remotely controlled.
How does it work?
SmartHome.com.au's iPhone home automation kits allow you to control anything electrical in up to 4 ways: on and off, and bright and dim (for lamps and lighting). You use your iPod touch or iPhone as a remote control, whether its within your own home over WiFi, or anywhere else over 3G.
The set up is fairly simple: you plug your existing appliance or light into a plug and play module, assign it an address, and enter that address into the provided PC software. It's then on your iPhone, allowing you full control by simply tapping your iPhone or iPod Touch's screen.
Using the provided software, you can also automate and schedule everything from your kettle, to the lights and lamps in your house.

Your Automated Home
Two Great Starter Kits
Module this, dimmer that, CM19 the other. What should you buy? We've made it simple with what we call the Whitman's sample approach by including our iPhone home automation application with two easy-to-install starter kits: the Basic Kit and the Ultimate Kit.
What You Can Control
Using our iPhone home automation kits you'll be able to control lights, lamps, and your on and off appliances. Between our two kits there is only one major difference: with the Ultimate Kit allows you'll to control more things in your house right out of the box than the Basic Kit.
Completely Expandable
We've made home automation simple with our two starter kits but that's not to say you're going to want to stop there. That's why we have a whole range of compatible home automation technologies that go beyond lighting and appliance control all the way to irrigation, temperature control and security systems.
The iPhone Application
Simple Setup
The iPhone has captured the passion of its users for its sheer simplicity. Tap, tap, tap. Things happen. Our home automation iPhone application sticks to that principal with its one page set up. And with only two things to fill in on that setup page things really couldn't be simpler.
Simple Control
Simplicity really is key, and we've applied it to how you control your automated devices. Our simple interface allows for easy On and Off of lights, lamps and appliances, and the ability to easily dim and brighten lights and lamps.
Control From Anywhere
Yes our home automation iPhone application acts as a remote control, but did we mention just how remote? Using 3G or Edge you'll be able to log into your home automation system and perform all the functions remotely. Just about to get home? Turn all the lights on. Too cold to get out of bed? Turn on your heater.
Server Messages
For those who want to see exactly what's happening when their using their iPhone or iPod Touch to control their X10 system our application has an inbuilt 'server messages' feature allowing you to see exactly what commands you're sending to your system.
PC Software
60 automation functions. One simple piece of software.
Customise Your Controls
You're not limited to the descriptions of your lights, appliances, or macros using our iPhone application; which allows you to give it all the meaning and make it applicable to your home and lifestyle.
All The Information You'll Need
When it comes to setting up the iPhone application to control your home on your local WiFi you'll need to pieces of information: your PC's IP address and the port number it's using. That might sound daunting. That's why we put it up on the screen for you.
Control A Plethora Of Devices
While our Basic and Ultimate kits allow for control of lights, lamps, and appliances the accompanying PC software allows you to customise for both power line and radio frequency X10 devices; more than useful as you expand upon your home automation system. You can also include up to 60 devices and macros.
