- Press and release the 'Include' button. The blue LED will blink slowly to indicate that the remote control has entered Inclusion mode.
- Take the remote control to the Z-Wave product you wish to include in your network.
- Press the Z-Wave button on the product you wish to include in your Z~Series network (the product's manual should include more detail on this). The blue and red LED light on the remote control will blink quickly to indicate that it is communicating with the new Z-Wave device.
- If successfully added to the network the remote controls blue LED still stay solid for 2 seconds. If it has failed it, the red LED will stay solid for 2 seconds. If a device inclusion fails exit Inclusion mode as per the last step, and repeat the above process.
- When ready to include another device, the blue LED light on the remote control will again begin to blink slowly. To include further Z-Wave devices repeat steps 3 to 5.
- To exit inclusion mode, quickly press and release any of the main 4 remote control buttons.
Note: if your remote control is set up as a secondary controller (this may be the case when using a Z~Series USB Stick as the main controller) the remote control will not be able to add Z-Wave devices to your Z~Series network. When this is the case step 5 will result in the red LED staying solid for 2 seconds before the remote control exits Inclusion mode.
Removing Z-Wave Devices
Removal mode allows you to delete / remove / exclude Z-Wave devices from your Z~Series network.
- Slide down the front panel to reveal the network function buttons.
- Press and release the 'Remove' button. The red LED will blink slowly to indicate that the remote control has entered Removal mode.
- Press the Z-Wave button on the product you wish to remove from your Z~Series network (the product's manual should include more detail on this). The blue LED light on the remote control will stay solid for 2 seconds to indicate a successful removal, while the red LED will remain solid for 2 seconds to indicate failure.
- When ready to remove another device, the red LED light on the remote control will again begin to blink slowly. If you wish to remove additional Z-Wave devices, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Note: if your remote control is set up as a secondary controller (this may be the case when using a Z~Series USB Stick as the main controller) the remote control will not be able to remove Z-Wave devices from your Z~Series network. If this is the case the red LED will remain solid for 2 seconds before the remote control exits Removal mode.
Associating or Disassociating Z-Wave Devices With Buttons
Z-Wave devices that have been included on your network can be associated with the remote control's four main scene buttons.
Note: Multiple devices can be included per button, and each button can have different functionality. The top left button may be used to turn a light on, while the top right button could be programmed to turn that light off. Further, each button can control several devices allowing for the creation of scenes. Scenes allow the remote control to alter the state of several Z-Wave devices associated with them. As an example, one button may be set to turn on several Z-Wave lights to create a 'mood lighting' scene.
- Press and keep holding the scene button (for all the steps) you wish to configure. The blue LED will blink quickly after 1 second to show that it is ready to associate or disassociate a function of a Z-Wave device with that button.
- Press the button on the Z-Wave device that you with to associate or disassociate. The blue LED on the remote control will stay solid to indicate that the device's function and button are now associated.
- If you wish to have the remote control button set a device to a particular status (perhaps a light to a certain dimmed level): while still holding the scene button from step 1, adjust the level or status of the device as desired.
- Release the scene button to complete associating or removing device control from a particular button on the Z~Series Mini Remote Control.
Note: If the product is already a part of that particular scene, it will be removed from that scene the second time steps #1-4 are repeated.
Turn On All Z-Wave Devices in the Network

Brighten/Dim the Z-Wave Devices Associated with a Scene
This allows you to bright or dim devices controlled by dimmable Z-Wave controllers such as the Z~Series Lamp Controller.
- Press and hold the scene button to dim up / brighten the devices associated with the scene. The blue LED will blink slowly.
- Release the scene button at the desired lighting level.
Associating Z-Wave Devices to Z-Wave Sensors in the Network
This series of commands will allow Z-Wave motion and door / window sensors to communicate directly with Z-Wave devices in your Z~Series network.
- Slide down the front panel to reveal the network function buttons.
- Press the 'Associate' button. The blue LED will blink slowly to indicate that the remote control has entered Association mode.
- Take the remote control to the Z-Wave device you wish the sensor to communicate with and press the device's Z-Wave button. The blue LED will blink quickly to indicate communication with the Z-Wave device.
- Take the remote control to the Z-Wave sensor and press the sensor's Z-Wave button. The blue LED will stay solid for 2 seconds to indicate successful association while the red LED will stay solid for 2 seconds to indicate failed association.
- To associate further devices and sensors repeat steps 3 and 4 as desired.
