Smart dimming.

Made simple.

Perfect lighting is a part of every truly smart home. Lighting that is responsive. That’s always the right brightness. That’s always on when you need it, and off when you don’t. But achieving perfect smart lighting has not always been easy…
aeotec-z-wave-nano-dimmer-2-header2
Until now. Nano Dimmer offers smart, Z-Wave connected lighting without any of the hassle.

Smooth dimming.

Dimming the lights in a room is beautiful. But it’s also extremely complicated and technical.

It takes what is known as phase control; the reduction of the amount of voltage a light bulb consumes along its trailing edge or leading edge.

You don’t need to worry about any of that, because Nano Dimmer makes smart lighting simple. It simplifies the wiring, and it simplifies the dimming.

Nano Dimmer is compatible with both leading edge and trailing edge lighting.

Any switch…

Nano Dimmer has been designed to work with virtually any light switch typically found in homes… new or old. It installs invisibly behind them, enhancing their functionality instead of completely replacing it. Smart, affordable and convenient.

Any light fitting…

Nano Dimmer can turn virtually any light into smart lighting.

There is no need to change your light fittings or globes, saving you money and providing you the freedom to express yourself with the lighting of your choice… just the way you like it.

Compatible.

Powered by both its proprietary Lighting Engine and 32-bit CPU, Nano Dimmer calculates lighting at unparalleled speeds. It calculates perfectly smooth dimming, and perfect bulb compatibility, self-adjusting whenever a new bulb is attached.

This means you won’t have a problem finding lights that work with Nano Dimmer.

Easy to install.

By a licensed electrician.

Add Nano Dimmer to your Z-Wave system. It will make your lights smart. It makes them responsive. It gives you the ability to control them, schedule, dim them and brighten them.

All of this control and intelligence comes from having an electrician wire the Nano Dimmer behind your existing light switch…. in minutes

Neutral wire optional.

Whether your lights are installed in a 2-wire (no neutral) or 3-wire system, Nano Dimmer is compatible. Lighting Engine auto-detects whether your light switches have a neutral wire or not, then automatically adjusts it settings.

Like magic.

With Nano Dimmer and the power of Z-Wave, your lights can turn on when motion is detected,  by voice, app control or schedule.

You are in full control.

Perfectly small.

Aeotec released the first ever Z-Wave in-wall dimmer in 2006. The latest Nano Dimmer is now 60% smaller than the original model, every single millimetre of Nano Dimmer benefits from Aeotec’s 16+ year’s experience in making in-wall dimmers.

nano-dimmer-size
42 (w) x 39.5 (h) x 20 (d) mm

Perfectly safe.

Your lighting may be perfect, but that doesn’t mean the electricity powering it is. Things happen. Surges happen and are common, and Nano Dimmer protects against them. With a in-built surge and overload protector, Nano Dimmer not only keeps your lighting connected… it keeps them protected.

Perfectly upgraded.

Nano Dimmer dramatically improves the lighting in your home. Aeotec’s 3rd generation of invisible lighting controller outperforms all that has come before it.

Dimming is smoother. Compatibility is broader. Lighting is faster and more responsive. Automation and intelligence have never been more powerful.

And it comes in such a small size, that you’ll be amazed at just how much functionality Aeotec were able to craft inside.

Compatibility
Homes have unique lighting and switches. From bulb type to switch type to wiring type to load type, Lighting Engine powers Nano Dimmer’s class-leading dimming compatibility.
Dimming levels
Perfect dimming needs precision. Nano Dimmer can be dimmed at 1% increments from 0% right through to 100% brightness.
Smooth dimming
Nano Dimmer offers a customisable ramp rate so that it can dim or brighten as fast or as smooth as you want it to.
250% faster
Your lighting should be responsive. Nano Dimmer responds in milliseconds – 250% quicker than previous models.
Wireless control
Connected lighting has to work. It’s that simple. Nano Dimmer offers a leading 150 metre point-to-point wireless range for flawless wireless performance.
Stronger signal
A wireless signal that goes further, stronger. Nano Dimmer’s improved wireless technology is perfect for pass through walls now that it’s 2.5dBM stronger.
1.5 amps
Small in size without compromise. Nano Dimmer can control lights and loads that draw up to 1.5 amps of power.
See your spend
Along with dimming control, Nano Dimmer includes Aeotec’s energy metering technology for an accurate measurement of how much electricity your lights are using.
Secure lighting
Because it’s built upon Z-Wave Gen5, Nano Dimmer features banking grade, AES-128 bit encryption to protect the Z-Wave wireless communication.
Perfectly slim

Packed with technology but not bloated in size, Nano Dimmer’s slim shell of just 20mm fits easily behind your existing wall switches.

No gateway - no worries
With its auto timers and settings, Nano Dimmer can still be automated and controlled – even if your Z-Wave gateway is down.
Aeotec Gen 5
Nano Dimmer is built upon Aeotec’s leading Gen5 technology and is powered by Z-Wave Plus.

This product worked as advertised on a celling fan. However it found on lower levels it introduces a hum in the motor that I simply couldn’t get rid of. The hum disappears at high speed. I have used a different product in tandem with the original fan controller I now have full control with a whisper quiet motor at all speeds.

  2. Steven Anderson

Very happy with the performance and after switching to Momentary switches we have 2 way lighting control by switch working perfectly.

  3. David Rawsthorne

The nano dimmer is brilliant for upgrading existing lighting to be dimmable (as long as the globes support dimming), but be aware that it is only good for 1.5A, and not designed for most fans we have here in Australia that have the 3 speed switch on the wall. If you are running loads of 40+ watts then you dont even need to run a neutral down to the device, but you may find that at low dimming levels, you get a little flickering of the lights. This can be minimised by using a neutral to the dimmer, or alternatively using a nano dimmer bypass.

I bought 2 of these and will likely be getting more for lighting as I upgrade the lights in the various rooms of the house

Yes, this is possible (without needing to run any extra wires).  Ideally, you will want to change your current switch mechanisms (just the little switch in the middle of the switch plate - not the entire switch) to "momentary bell press" switches (i.e. Clipsal Impress Momentary Bell Press Mech).  Thi...

A Hi Harry. The Nano Dimmer cannot be used with non-dimmable lights. Another way to tackle this (if practical) is to install the Nano Switch module in the roof cavity near the light fitting (where there is a neutral) in a junction box - we can then use the exisiting switch wire for control from the switch. I hope this helps.

This will then also easily allow for 2 way switch control (without adding nay new wires) - you would only need one module behind one of the 2 way switches.
