How to add Shelly Wi-Fi devices to Google Home

Adding Shelly Wi-Fi devices to Google Home (Google Assistant) is rather straight forward.

What you’ll need…
    • A Shelly device already set up in the Shelly Smart Control app (formerly “Shelly Cloud”)
    • The Shelly device shows as Online in the Shelly app
    • A Google account and the Google Home app installed
    • Internet access (Shelly <-> Google Home is a cloud-to-cloud integration)

How to link Shelly to Google Home

    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap Devices (or + Add depending on your app version).
    3. Tap Add > Works with Google.
    4. Search for “Shelly Smart Control” and select it.
    5. Sign in with your Shelly account credentials and approve the permissions.
    6. After linking, your Shelly devices should appear in Google Home. Assign them to Rooms and rename them if needed.

Confirm it’s working

  • In Google Home, try turning a device on/off from the app.
  • Try voice control, e.g.:
    • “Hey Google, turn on Kitchen Light”
    • “Hey Google, turn off Heater”
Tip: Exact voice control commands depend on the device type Google recognises (i.e. an on/off device).

Troubleshooting

1: Device isn’t showing in Google Home

    • In the Shelly app, make sure Cloud is enabled for that device (required for Google Home).
    • Force a resync in Google Home:
      • Google Home > Add > Works with Google > Shelly Smart Control > Sync devices (wording can vary).

2: Google Home says “No compatible devices”

    • Confirm the device is added to the same Shelly account you’re linking to Google.
    • Confirm it appears in the Shelly app and is Online.
    • Double-check Cloud is enabled for that device.

3: Devices appear but show “Offline” in Google Home

    • Check the device is online in the Shelly app first.
    • Power-cycle the Shelly device (turn circuit off/on if appropriate).
    • Unlink and relink Shelly in Google Home (Works with Google > Shelly Smart Control).
    • If linking fails during login, switching your phone’s default browser to Chrome and clearing Google Home cache has helped some users (platform-specific).

4: New Shelly devices added to the Shelly app do not appear in Google Home

    • Add it to the Shelly app first and ensure it’s online.
    • Then run Sync devices in Google Home.

Notes and limitations

    • Because this is cloud-to-cloud, if you disable cloud access for a Shelly device, it may disappear from Google Home.
    • Some Shelly models/features may not expose every function to Google Home (varies by device category and Google’s supported device classes).
