Any switch…

Dual Nano Switch has been designed to work with virtually any light switch typically found in homes… new or old.
It installs invisibly behind them, enhancing their functionality instead of completely replacing it. Smart, affordable and convenient.

Any light fitting…

Dual Nano Switch can turn any light into smart lighting.

There is no need to change your light fittings or globes, saving you money and providing you the freedom to express yourself with the lighting of your choice… just the way you like it.

Easy to install.

By a licensed electrician.

Add Dual Nano Switch to your Z-Wave system. It will make your lights smart. It makes them responsive. Combined with the power of Z-Wave, it gives you the ability to control them, via the local wall-switch, motion detection, app control, voice control or by schedule.

All of this control and intelligence comes from having an electrician wire the Dual Nano Switch behind your existing light switches…. in minutes.

Perfectly small.

Aeotec released the first ever Z-Wave in-wall switch in 2006. The latest Dual Nano Switch is now 60% smaller than the original model, every single millimetre of Dual Nano Switch benefits from Aeotec’s 16+ year’s experience.

Perfectly safe.

Your lighting may be perfect, but that doesn’t mean the electricity powering it is. Things happen. Surges happen and are common, and Dual Nano Switch protects against them. With a in-built surge and overload protector, Dual Nano Switch not only keeps your lighting connected… it keeps them protected.

Perfectly upgraded.

Dual Nano Switch dramatically improves the lighting in your home. Aeotec’s 3rd generation of invisible lighting controller outperforms all that has come before it.

And it comes in such a small size, that you’ll be amazed at just how much functionality Aeotec were able to craft inside.

250% faster

Your lighting should be responsive. Dual Nano Switch responds in milliseconds – 250% quicker than previous models.

Wireless control

Connected lighting has to work. It’s that simple. Dual Nano Switch offers a 150 metre point-to-point wireless range for flawless performance.

Stronger signal

A wireless signal that goes further, stronger. Dual Nano Switch’s improved wireless technology is perfect for pass through walls now that it’s 2.5dBM stronger.

10 amps

Small in size without compromise. Dual Nano Switch can control loads that draw up to 10 amps (5 amps per channel) of power.

See your spend

Along with on/off control, Dual Nano Switch includes Aeotec’s energy metering technology for an accurate measurement of how much electricity your lights are using.

Secure lighting

Because it’s built upon Z-Wave Gen5, Dual Nano Switch features banking grade, AES-128 bit encryption to protect the Z-Wave wireless communication.

Perfectly slim

Packed with technology but not bloated in size, Dual Nano Switch’s slim shell of just 20mm fits easily behind your existing wall switches.

No gateway - no worries

With its auto timers and settings, Dual Nano Switch can still be automated and controlled – even if your Z-Wave gateway is down.

Aeotec Gen 5

Dual Nano Switch is built upon Aeotec’s leading Gen5 technology and is powered by Z-Wave Plus.

  1. Steve

I have the single nano switch and nano dimmer in other parts of my home and was very happy to find the dual nano switch works flawlessly like the other products. Advantage though is it is almost 2 for the price of one so perfect for controlling multiple lights in our kitchen. The electrician and I did have a little trouble getting it to recognise the momentary bell-press switch on the second light as it was only learning the first one. It isn’t in the included documentation we could see but four quick presses of the action button for the first switch and later six quick presses for the second switch was enough to get it in the learning mode. Extremely happy with the purchase.

  2. Kris

I rate these better simply for the fact that they are easier to include and exclude. Fibaro have loads of issues with their inclusion/exclusion process but Aeotec includes with a simple click every time without fail. A solid product, I’ve got about 50 of them running in various locations with no dramas. Aeotec’s support is second to none and allows OTA firmware updates.

  1. Q Is each channel/gang metered separately like the Fibraro?
    A

    Yes.

  2. How does the process work with ordinary flick switches? EG. Flicked down is 'On' and up is 'Off'. If it is on, and you use a smart platform to turn it off, what happens when you use the wall switch next time? It will be in the on position but switched off.

A Yes, you can connect another Nano Dimmer downstairs and "Associate" both modules with each other - this means one can control the other from the switch.
  6. Hi, I have purchased 3 dual nano switches with 6 Clipsal momentary switches. All are wired up correctly and run perfectly through homey. None of the dual nano switches will recognise the momentary switches. I have tried pressing the action button 4 and 6 times and pressed the momentary switches and waited for the same results every time. I have previously installed nano dimmers with momentary swit... A The process you are describing is correct - however, just to confirm... you must press and release the momentary switch (not hold it down) after pressing the action button 4/6 times. I am confident this should work - if you still have not luck, please contact support@smarthome.com.au
  8. I have two switches with manual dimmer dials. Can I install this dual nano switch and still be able to manually dim the lights with the manual dimmer dial? A Yes.
  12. As mentioned previously in relation to the dual nano switched "these modules are not designed to be installed behind GPOs in Australia" Is it due to its physical location. Could you have it installed in a junction box in the ceiling?

A There are 2 main things that make this module not suitable for GPOs... 1. They are only rated at 6A per channel (not 10A). 2. The manual switch on GPOs here in Australia are "moulded" directly to the pins - so there is no way to connect the manual switch to the module. The better option is to use the plug-in Aeotec Smart Switch 6.

A Yes, this device is supported by SmartThings. It supports 2 gangs (2 seperate sets of lights from 2 seperate switches located on the same switch plate).
  16. If I want four smart switches for four different sets of outdoor lights, would I be better with two dual switches or four normal nanos? No dimming needed, four gang plate going in. I’m a little worried four ordinary nanos will be a tight fit. Thanks

A You would only need two Dual Nanos - however, please keep in mind these modules are not designed to be installed behind GPOs in Australia - you are better off hard-wiring the lights to the modules behind a regular wall-switch plate.
  18. Does the Aeotec Z-Wave Dual Nano Switch also NOT require a neutral wire, as per the Aeotec Z-Wave Nano Dimmer? I would like to use these to control some Coach lights that have a neutral at the light, not at the switch. thanks

A The Nano Switch does require a neutral wire (unlike the Nano Dimmer). IF you do not have a neutral at the switch, it may also be possible to install the module in the roof cavity near the lights (where there is a neutral and active wire) - the same switch wire can still be used to control the module.
  20. Are you able to confirm whether this device would be suitable to make a double gpo or powerpoint smart? I'm looking to upgrade some of the powerpoints that I plug my lounge components into (large TV, AV receiver, PC etc). A It is technically not legal to use any Z-Wave device behind a GPO in Australia - However the SmartSwitch 6 will do the job nicely (and it is easily movable).

  24. My sparky and I were able to pair several Aeotec Nano Dimmers with the Homey I bought from you, but couldn’t get the Dual Switch to pair (he’s coming back tomorrow for another try). Are you aware of any compatibility issues? Also, how do you update firmware when using the Homey? I believe it doesn’t (yet) have over the air update capability.

A The Dual Nano should pair with Homey without issue. Please try "removing" the Z-Wave device first - then re-adding. Homey does not yet support over the air updates - however you can use the older Aeotec Z-Stick (http://www.smarthome.com.au/aeotec-z-wave-z-stick-s2.html).
  26. Can these switches be installed in ceiling space, rather than behind the physical switch, to allow a Neutral to be installed easily as I can’t get a neutral down to the physical switch?

A Yes - that is the perfect solution if you do not have a neutral at the switch. Best of all, you will not need to run any additional wiring as we can use the same wires running down to the switch. Just be sure your sparky installs the module in a junction box so it is not left "flapping around" in the roof space.
